Offloading

While fishermen are still at sea, they contact Atlantic Coast Seafood with a “hail.” This is an estimate of how many pounds of each fish species on board, and when they are expecting to arrive at port. When the arrive at the dock, the fish are removed from the fish hold underneath the deck of the boat using buckets and pulleys.

Next, the fish are sorted by size and quality.

Finally, the fish are weighed and final counts of how much fish are available for sale are determined.
